KRISHNA BHATT
Born into a family of musicians, poets and Sanskrit scholars in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Krishna Bhatt was introduced to the rich cultural tradition of the illustrious Senia gharana from his father, the distinguished sitarist Shashi Mohan Bhatt. Krishna then studied with Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
A prolific composer and performer; Krishna has recorded with Ali Akbar Khan, Zakir Hussain, Swapan Chaudhari e Pandit Pran Nath, propagating Indian classical music internationally.
He has collaborated with Terry Riley, the Kronos Quartet, Jody Stechner and others, and composed music for dance and films, including Alain Tanner's No Man's Land.
A brilliant creative voice among the new generation of Indian instrumentalists, Krishna's innovative musical style is noted for its virtuosity, origianlity and the great depth of lyrical feeling it conveys.
